Can You Make Deviled Eggs A Night Before A Party

Deviled eggs for a baby shower can be prepared the night before, which makes them a convenient option for entertaining.

To maintain their freshness, it is best to keep the egg whites and the yolk filling separate until just before serving.

Store the white halves in an airtight container and keep the yolk mixture refrigerated in a sealed bowl.

Assemble the yummy - baby deviled eggs on the day of the event to ensure the best texture and appearance.

This method helps avoid sogginess and keeps the flavours vibrant, allowing you to enjoy a stress-free party preparation.

When Can A Baby Have Deviled Eggs

Babies can typically be introduced to homemade deviled eggs around 6 months of age, once they have been safely introduced to eggs and show no signs of allergy.

It is important to ensure the eggs are fully cooked to avoid any risk of salmonella, and the yolk should be mashed or blended smoothly, avoiding added salt, sugar, or strong spices.

Always consult with a health visitor before introducing new foods to confirm it is appropriate for your baby's individual needs and development.

Homemade deviled eggs can be a nutritious option, providing protein and healthy fats that support growth and development.

    Ingredient information

Eggs - I have used free range medium eggs for this recipe. You can use large eggs too. Packed with protein for baby and adults.

Creme fraiche - This is a great versatile ingredient great for babies for baby led weaning.

Turmeric - This is a great spice that has so many benefits. The reason why I have used this is to add a little more colour to the egg yolk mixture.

Chives - I have used a few dried chives to add a little colour for garnish.

    Serving suggestion

For a baby shower, homemade deviled eggs make a delightful and visually appealing finger food.

Serve them on a large platter garnished with fresh herbs like parsley or chives for a pop of colour.

Complement these with other easy baby-led weaning (BLW) friendly options such as soft steamed vegetable sticks (carrots, broccoli, or sweet potato), ripe avocado slices, and mild cheese cubes.

Adding a bowl of mixed berries or small fruit pieces provides a fresh, sweet contrast. These simple, yummy choices ensure that both little ones and adults can enjoy the spread comfortably if needed.

    Storage instructions

The egg recipe can be kept in the fridge in air-tight container, a ziplock bag or you can wrap tightly with plastic wrap for up to 3 days in the fridge. Or you can freeze the eggs in freezer-safe bags or an airtight container for up to 3 months. Which is great as you will always have a lunch, dinner or snack in the freezer ready to be defrosted for a quick meal or snack.

If you want to defrost the best way to do this is to take the eggs out of the freezer, and leave in the fridge overnight until fully thawed.

The eggs are best eaten chilled.

Once removed from the freezer the eggs will not be able to be frozen again.

Equipment used to help with this recipe

Large mixing bowl - Definitely choose a stainless steel one - they are lighter than the stone or glass ones and very easy to clean.

Airtight container - I much prefer the click-shut lids on these containers compared to others. They are also dishwasher and freezer safe and BPA free, so very suitable for food use.

This is a great little idea if you are hosting a baby shower. The eggs are suitable for adults and baby from 6 months old.

    Ingredients

    Instructions

    1. Start by placing your eggs in a saucepan of hot water and cook the eggs in the hot water for 15 minutes until you have a hard-boiled egg.
    2. Remove the eggs from the hot water and place in a bowl of cold water or an ice bath.
    3. Next peel the eggs removing the egg shells.
    4. Cut the eggs in half. Remove the orange yolk by using a teaspoon and place into a small bowl. Set aside the egg halves.
    5. Add the creme fraiche and turmeric to the egg yolks and mix together using a spoon.
    6. You can either place the egg yolk mixture into a piping bag with a piping nozzle of your choice and pipe the egg yolk mixture back into each egg white. Or you can simply spoon the egg yolk mixture using a teaspoon, this all depends what kind of finish you would like.
    7. Display on a serving plate and sprinkle over the chives for garnish.

    Notes

This is a great recipe to double or triple up for entertaining.

You could use a dairy free creme fraiche if you prefer for dairy free guests or babies.

Hope you and your whole family enjoy!
