What Dips Go With Crudites
Crudités with dip are a great way to introduce your little one to a variety of flavours and textures during the baby-led weaning journey.
A creamy butter bean dip is a good dip, made by blending cooked butter beans with a touch of olive oil, lemon juice, and a pinch of garlic, is not only smooth but also rich in protein.
Baba ghanoush, a smoky aubergine dip, is another excellent choice; simply roast the aubergine, blend it with garlic, and lemon juice, and enjoy a delightful, nutritious dip.
Other options include a mild houmous, or beet hummus, herb dip, mashed avocado, or a silky yogurt dip mixed with finely grated cucumber and herbs, all perfect for paired with colourful veggie sticks like carrot, cucumber, and bell pepper.
These dips are great options for the time of year and encourage exploration and experimentation with flavours while making mealtime enjoyable for your baby, and great if you have little time to prepare healthy meals.
Examples of Crudites For Baby
When introducing a veggie platter to babies from six months old, a variety of textures and flavours can be explored.
Cooked carrots make an excellent option, as their natural sweetness is often appealing to young taste buds and they can be easily softened for safe consumption.
Similarly, cooked green beans are a great choice; they're easy to grasp and provide a gentle crunch.
Cucumber batons (usually the star of the show with babies depending of babies taste preference), cut into manageable sizes, offer a refreshing and hydrating snack.
Other suitable crudités include lightly steamed broccoli florets, soft sticks of sweet pepper, and thin slices of cooked beetroot, all of which encourage exploration and help develop self-feeding skills while providing essential nutrients.

Chickpeas - Chickpeas are great for baby-led weaning. Mashed or blizted to a dip they are a great option for baby and toddler for a snack or meal choice.
Smoked paprika - This is a great spice for baby and toddler. A mild but flavoursome spice for baby-led weaning.
Lemon - The lemon juice brings extra flavour for this dip that it really elevates the recipe, you could add in a little lemon zest too or use lime juice.

Serving suggestion
The dip would be great served with the crudites suitable for baby from 6 months old by being cooked until soft for baby.
This way the veggies make for a great finger food idea.
The dip could also be great spread on finger sized pieces of toast or served with tortilla chips for older kids and the adults.
Other recipes you may like: Ketchup, Aubergine dip or Butter bean dip.
Storage instructions
Store the veggie dip in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the fridge.
You can freeze the hummus in an ice cube tray if you like and portion the hummus so that you can use what you need.
To defrost the hummus leave in the fridge overnight in an airtight container and enjoy the next day when it is fully thawed.
Once thawed you will not be able to re freeze.
Equipment used to help with this recipe
Nutri bullet - I have found a blender to be an invaluable tool in the preparation of many of my baby led weaning recipes.
Airtight container - I much prefer the click-shut lids on these containers compared to others. They are also dishwasher and freezer safe and BPA free, so very suitable for food use.
Kilner jar - These are snack sized glass pots with easy push-on silicone lids which are water tight and leak-proof making them ideal for carrying light bites and snacks on-the-go.
