Bananas For BLW
On my Instagram account, I decided to ask my followers to send over to me 3-5 ingredients and from this I would come up with a perfect recipe for them which I thought was a good idea.
This proved to be popular with them and the ingredients came flooding in! I did have a few fails, but I loved a few of them! This being one of them. Great things come to those who wait.
There is something so satisfying when it works out, I also love the fact that this bananas BLW is such a simple baby food recipe too, the perfect finger food practicing self-feeding skills!
I love the fact Jade chose banana and strawberry, a great idea! I instantly thought of a smoothie or something along those lines!
But for some reason I had a baked banana on my mind, as we had a BBQ at the weekend and for some reason it made me think of baking a banana on a BBQ wrapped in foil. Did any of you ever do that? Or remember that as a child?
The good news is this is such a healthy snack or dessert that can be served with added extras for a 6 month old baby as a great finger food as it is the ideal texture! You can see below for my suggestions.
Give this one a try and let me know if it brings back some memories for you too!
Benefits of Banana Recipes For Baby
Banana fingers (the size of your finger) are an excellent choice for baby-led weaning, offering numerous benefits for your little one trying solid foods practicing fine motor skills. They are naturally soft and easily mashable, making them perfect for tiny hands to grasp without the risk of choking.
Rich in essential nutrients like potassium and vitamin C, bananas support your baby's diet and growing body and immune system.
The natural sweetness of bananas can also help to introduce your child to new flavours, encouraging them to explore a variety of foods.
Their convenient peel makes bananas a fuss-free snack, a great way for on-the-go occasions or quick meals at home. Simple ways are often the best ways.
Different Ways To Serve Banana To Baby
You can serve banana in thick slices for babies to grasp and chew, or mash it lightly and spread it on soft bread or toast for an easy finger food option.
For a fun twist, freeze banana slices and serve them as a cool treat, or blend banana with a little avocado for a creamy, nutritious dip.
You can create banana pancakes by mixing mashed banana with egg, cooking them as small, soft pancakes perfect for tiny hands to hold.
Each method allows babies to explore different tastes while honing their self-feeding skills.
Ingredient information
Whole banana - Packed full of potassium, they really are the perfect snack for babies and toddlers! Do not use green bananas which are unripe bananas. Overripe bananas with brown spots are the best for flavour and for little hands to hold.
Strawberry - Baby banana and strawberries is a lovely combination and a tasty one too with a soft texture.
Peanut butter - As you know I use 100% nut butters with no added sugar!
Chia seeds - A little protein hit with the chia seeds!
Desiccated coconut - Adds the nuttiness and texture this recipe needs! A lovely combination of flavours.
Serving suggestion
You could serve this with some frozen yogurt, or even some plain Greek yogurt.
This would work perfectly with that!
Alternatively some whipped cream would also work well and be a delicious accompaniment!

Storage instructions
You can store this large banana in the fridge for up to three days. This is definitely best eaten straight from the oven cooled to room temperature!
If you do store in the fridge for the next day, the banana may discolour, which is absolutely fine, it won’t affect the flavour just the appearance of the banana.
The quality of the banana when frozen will not be great when defrosted so it is best not to freeze the banana.
Equipment used to help with this recipe
Baking sheet - I have chosen to use a non-stick and BPA free baking sheet - they are easy to clean and, if you buy more than one, easily stackable and easily stored
Airtight container - I much prefer the click-shut lids on these containers compared to others. They are also dishwasher and freezer safe and BPA free, so very suitable for food use.
