    Ingredient information

Fresh avocados - This is a great ingredient for baby-led weaning. It can be hard to find avocado recipes so this is a great recipe for baby-led weaning. Mashed avocado or served as finger food it is a great recipe for baby.

Egg - The eggs are added for nutrition and it is a great binder to keep all the ingredients together, the best way for this recipe.

Banana - I have added a mashed banana (the one with the brown spots are a great option) to this recipe to add sweetness to the recipe. Or you could make a banana puree, a couple of easy ways to serve banana to baby. Good source of potassium as well.

Spirulina - This is a great little ingredient for homemade baby food, you only ever need a tiny amount so a packet of spirulina will last for a long time. This ingredient is optional in this recipe but adds such a great colour to the avocado fingers.

Lime - I have used a little lime to stop the avocado from browning, you can also use fresh lemon juice if you did not have a lime.

    Storage instructions

The great news is that the homemade avocado baby food can be frozen.

All you will need to do to is store them in the freezer is grab some airlock freezer storage bag, or you can stack them in between some parchment paper and store in small food storage containers for up to 3 months. Just make sure they are cooled to room temperature before transferring to a container.

A great lunch or breakfast or snack idea that can be pulled from the freezer whenever you need.

You can store the spinach and eggs in the fridge for up to 3 days in the same way.

If you wanted to reheat the avocado fingers, you can reheat in a preheated oven on 180C or 350F for 10-15 minutes, just make sure they have cooled down before serving to your baby.

Once it has been reheated you will not be able to refreeze.

Equipment used to help with this recipe

6x6 inch baking dish - A white ceramic oven to table dish that is dishwasher and freezer safe.

Large bowl - Definitely choose a stainless steel one - they are lighter than the stone or glass ones and very easy to clean.

Airtight container - I much prefer the click-shut lids on these containers compared to others. They are also dishwasher and freezer safe and BPA free, so very suitable for food use.
