Can I Mix Yogurt and Peanut Butter For Baby

Yes, you can mix plain Greek yogurt and smooth peanut butter together for baby-led weaning as long as your baby has already been introduced to both foods individually without any allergic reactions.

This combination can provide a creamy texture that is easy for babies to handle and is rich in protein and healthy fats, supporting growth and development.

Ensure the peanut butter is smooth and free from added sugars or salt, and serve it in a thin layer or mixed well with yogurt to prevent choking hazards.

Always supervise your baby during mealtime and consult with your GP if you have any concerns about allergies or suitable portion sizes.

Can I Give a Smoothie To A 6 Month Old

Smoothies can be introduced to a 6-month-old practising baby-led weaning, but they should be served with caution.

At this age, babies are just beginning to explore solid foods alongside breastmilk or formula, so smoothies should be made thick enough to prevent choking and contain only natural ingredients like mashed fruit or vegetables without added sugars.

It is important to offer smoothies in a way that encourages self-feeding, such as in a spoonable form or thick enough to hold on a straw, rather than as a drink from a cup, to support the development of chewing and swallowing skills.

Always observe your baby closely to ensure they manage the texture comfortably.

    Ingredient information

Greek yogurt - I have used a plain Greek yogurt for this recipe, you could use a plain yogurt too. Or you could use your milk of choice such as whole milk, coconut milk, unsweetened almond milk, oat milk, soy milk or cashew milk.

Natural peanut butter - I have used a smooth 100% creamy peanut butter as this will have no salt or sugar added. You could use almond butter or cashew butter instead.

Banana - I have used a medium ripe banana for this smoothie recipe, overripe bananas are usually great for flavour. You could use a frozen banana for an extra cold smoothie or you could use ice cubes.

Rolled oats - I have added oats for added nutrition and texture for this smoothie recipe.

Flaxseed - I have added ground flax seeds for more nutrition.

Blueberries - I have used blueberries for sweetness and colour.

The healthy peanut butter banana smoothie can be stored in yeh fridge for up to 3 days, in an air tight bottle or airtight flask! Or you could keep in an airtight container, it’s up to you!

Things may settle a little so make sure you shake the smoothie before you serve and drink!

You could freeze the smoothie, in a silicone ice cube tray, or in an airtight container! You can store for up to 3 months in the freezer!

To defrost, leave in the fridge overnight, once defrosted you will not be able to refreeze.

Equipment used to help with this recipe

Nutri bullet - I have found a blender to be an invaluable tool in the preparation of many of my baby led weaning recipes.

Airtight container - I much prefer the click-shut lids on these containers compared to others. They are also dishwasher and freezer safe and BPA free, so very suitable for food use.
