When Can Babies Eat Croissants
Babies can generally try croissants for baby-led weaning from around 6 months of age, once they have developed sufficient chewing and swallowing skills.
Which is why this pizza croissant roll recipe is a great easy recipe using simple ingredients for pizza night for that busy weeknight for busy families for baby and toddler.
Croissants should be offered whole so it is easy for little hands to hold and soft enough to gum safely.
It is important to choose croissants without added sugars to keep the snack healthy and appropriate for a baby’s developing digestive system.
Always supervise closely to prevent choking and introduce new foods gradually to monitor for any allergic reactions. This is a fun twist on the usual pizza that is great for a weeknight dinner or quick snack for baby and toddler.
When Can Babies Eat Cheese
Babies can start eating cheese as a fun snack around 6 months of age, once they have begun solid foods. It is important to introduce cheese in small, manageable pieces or as part of a soft, mashed mixture to avoid choking hazards.
Choose pasteurised, mild cheeses such as mozzarella, cream cheese, or mild cheddar to reduce the risk of illness and allergic reactions.
Always monitor for any signs of intolerance or allergy when first introducing cheese, and consult with a paediatrician if there are concerns regarding dairy allergies or lactose intolerance.
Ingredient information
Croissant pastry - These flaky crescent rolls are perfect for a quick convenient way to make your own croissants at home. They are so versatile too, as you can make them sweet or savoury using a can of crescent roll dough.
Tomato puree - This is a great ingredient for a quick pizza sauce. It can be easily customised by adding herbs and spices.
Mixed herbs - I have used mixed herbs but you could use Italian seasoning, garlic powder or dried basil too.
Cheese - I have used a mix of mozzarella and cheddar cheese for this recipe and they both work so well.
Serving suggestion
The easy crescent roll pizza would be great served with cucumber batons and some home made crisps for a fun lunch on the go.
You could also make a homemade tomato sauce so that the pizza crescent rolls can be dipped for a tasty easy lunch, great snack, after school snack or dinner.

Storage instructions
The crescent roll recipe can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days, stored in an airtight container.
If you wanted to freeze the croissant rolls, you will need to make sure that the rolls have cooled down before transferring to either a freezer bag or airtight container.
Ensure that the bag/airtight container is labelled with the item and the date. I use masking tape to label the airtight container.
To defrost the rolls, leave in the fridge overnight and make sure that they are fully defrosted, before re heating.
To reheat, place the rolls in a oven proof dish and reheat 180C/350F for 4-5 minutes. You can add an extra sprinkling of cheddar cheese if you wish, they can be eaten at room temperature.
Once the rolls have been defrosted you will not be able to reheat or refreeze.
Equipment used to help with this recipe
Baking sheet - I have chosen to use a non-stick and BPA free baking sheet - they are easy to clean and, if you buy more than one, easily stackable and easily stored.
Airtight container - I much prefer the click-shut lids on these containers compared to others. They are also dishwasher and freezer safe and BPA free, so very suitable for food use.
