Discover an easy bread recipe with yogurt using only two ingredients. Enjoy tasty, homemade bread that’s light, quick and requires no special tools.

What Does Yogurt Do In Bread

Full-fat Greek yogurt, when added to bread dough, enhances the texture and flavour by contributing moisture and a slight tanginess. It works so perfectly in this bread recipe with yogurt.

Its natural acidity helps to tenderise the gluten in the flour, resulting in a softer crumb and a more delicate crumb structure.

The lactic acid bacteria in yogurt can aid fermentation, promoting a better rise and improved shelf life.

Overall, incorporating yogurt into bread recipes produces a loaf that is moist, tender, and subtly tangy. Yum!

    Making Bread At Home

Making quick bread or yogurt flatbread recipe at home is often better for babies than shop-bought options because it allows complete control over the simple ingredients, ensuring no unnecessary additives, preservatives, or excess salt and sugar are included.

Homemade bread can be tailored to suit a baby's nutritional needs, using wholegrain flours and natural ingredients that provide essential fibre and nutrients.

Baking at home reduces the risk of exposure to potential allergens or artificial additives commonly found in commercial bread using wholesome ingredients.

This hands-on approach supports the introduction of fresh, wholesome foods during weaning, promoting healthier eating habits from an early age with this easy recipe.

The Ratio Of Yogurt To Bread

As long as the quantities of yogurt and bread remain equal, the recipe should consistently result in the desired texture and taste.

Balancing these ingredients in a one-to-one ratio ensures that the mixture maintains the right moisture level and binding properties, making it suitable for baby led weaning recipes.

This straightforward proportional approach simplifies preparation and guarantees reliable results every time.

    Ingredient information

Greek yogurt - I have used plain full fat Greek natural yogurt for this recipe, such a staple for baby led weaning and I love the fact I have used this ingredient to make bread. Amazing!

Flour - I have used a wholemeal bread flour, but you can use a white bread flour if you prefer. The recipe will work with most flours, the rise of the bread may vary with the different flour that you are using. So you may end up with a flatter bread if you used self raising flour for example.

    Serving suggestion

I love bread with butter! But obviously you can serve this bread with anything you like and know that your little ones will be eating home made bread without any added extras in it!

Cheese on toast is always a winner, and I love that you can cut the bread thinly or thickly depending on what you want to use the bread for! perfect for baby to pick up. A great way to practice.

This bread recipe also makes a great sandwich bread, the best texture.

Other recipes that may be of interest: Naan bread, Pizza bread muffin Baby French toast, fluffy white bread or Egg and cheese crusts.

    Storage instructions

This Greek yogurt bread recipe will last up to 5 days in a bread bin, airtight container or airtight food bag, in a cool kitchen at room temperature.

If your kitchen gets too hot I would wrap the bread in foil or plastic wrap and pop in the fridge for storage.

You can freeze the quick yogurt bread recipe as well, so if you double the ingredients and make 2 loaves you can freeze a loaf for the next week.

Once the bread has been frozen it is suggested that you do not re freeze the bread.

Equipment used to help with this recipe

Large bowl - Definitely choose a stainless steel one - they are lighter than the stone or glass ones and very easy to clean.

Baking tray - I have chosen to use a non-stick and BPA free baking sheet - they are easy to clean and, if you buy more than one, easily stackable and easily stored.
