    Pureed Prunes For Baby

Prune puree for baby is an excellent choice for both baby-led weaning and traditional baby food due to their natural sweetness and smooth texture, which makes them easy for babies to consume.

Rich in fibre and naturally acting as a gentle laxative, pureed prunes can help alleviate constipation, a common issue in early weaning stages.

They also provide essential vitamins and minerals, including vitamin K and potassium, supporting overall growth and development.

For BLW, pureed prunes can be served alongside soft finger foods to introduce a variety of flavours, while in traditional weaning they offer a nutritious, easily digestible food option.

Benefits of Homemade Prune Baby Food

Making homemade prune baby food offers several benefits for your baby’s health and development.

Prunes are a natural source of dietary fibre, which can help regulate digestion and prevent baby constipation, a common concern in infants starting solid foods. They also have no added sugar but have a natural sugar to sweeten baby’s taste buds.

Preparing prune baby food at home allows you to control the ingredients, ensuring there are no added sugars or preservatives, making it a pure and wholesome option.

Prunes are rich in vitamins and minerals such as vitamin K and potassium, which support healthy growth and immune function.

The smooth texture of homemade prune purée is gentle on little mouths and easy to swallow, making it an ideal first food as your baby transitions to solids.

    Best Blender For Baby Food

When choosing the best blender for baby food, it's important to remember that you don't need to invest in a fancy or expensive model.

Most standard blenders are perfectly adequate for preparing nutritious, smooth purees and soft textures suitable for little ones.

Look for a blender that offers easy cleaning, a compact design, and reliable blending power rather than extravagant features.

This way, you can create yummy baby food quickly and efficiently without the need for premium gadgets. Save those pennies on the expensive ones!

    Storage instructions

The homemade prune puree can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.

It is possible to freeze into pots or even a freezer bag, the puree can be frozen for up to 3 months.

You can also use an ice cube tray to portion the prune puree to store in the freezer.

Make sure you leave the pots overnight in the fridge before serving.

Once defrosted you will not be able to re freeze the baby food puree again.

Equipment used to help with this recipe

Nutri bullet - I have found a blender to be an invaluable tool in the preparation of many of my baby led weaning recipes.

Airtight container - I much prefer the click-shut lids on these containers compared to others. They are also dishwasher and freezer safe and BPA free, so very suitable for food use.

Kilner jars - These are snack sized glass pots with easy push-on silicone lids which are water tight and leak-proof making them ideal for carrying light bites and snacks on-the-go.
