Ingredient information
Pasta - I have used a penne pasta for the recipe you can use another type of pasta such as orzo pasta which is a great first pasta to try for baby led weaning. Or you can use a Rigatoni pasta.
Turkey meat - I have used leftover turkey breast from the Christmas dinner but equally you can use the red meat too. You can use leftover chicken strips or leftover roast pork for the recipe too.
Tomato paste - I have used a tomato paste which is a great base for a quick tomato based sauce for pasta recipes and curry recipes.
Onion granules and garlic granules - Great pantry staples! Using garlic granules and garlic granules are great for a quick and easy way to add flavour to a sauce with minimal effort. Both completely ok for baby and toddler from 6 months old.
Mixed herbs - I have used dried mixed herbs for the recipe another great herb to be used in sauces to flavour them without the need of adding salt or sugar. You can also use Italian seasoning for the recipe or fresh herbs such as fresh parsley and fresh basil.
Serving suggestion
The leftover recipe will be great served with tender stem broccoli, green beans, baby spinach or maybe some homemade garlic bread.
You could sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top of the pasta and grill to melt for a yummy cheesy topped pasta.
Why not try adding in cream cheese for a creamy turkey pasta.
Other recipes you may like: Classic spaghetti bolognaise, Chicken spaghetti, Pumpkin pasta or Aubergine and courgette pasta.
Storage instructions
The pasta can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days, stored in an airtight container, or you could use a container with plastic wrap to cover the pasta.
If you wanted to freeze the pasta, you will need to store in an airtight container.
Make sure the simple ragu has cooled to room temperature before transferring to an airtight container to the freezer.
To defrost the pasta dish leave in the fridge overnight, and make sure it has fully defrosted.
To reheat the easy pasta recipe, transfer to a preheated oven on 180C or 350F and reheat on a medium-high heat.
Once the pasta has been defrosted and reheated you will not be able to re-freeze.
Equipment used to help with this recipe
Saucepan - So many pan sets out there but I particularly like to use pans with a non-stick surface for ease of cleaning and ones that are suitable for different types of hob surface.
Airtight container - I much prefer the click-shut lids on these containers compared to others. They are also dishwasher and freezer safe and BPA free, so very suitable for food use.
