If you need a lunch that is nutritious, fun and colourful then look no further!

This houmous roll bento box is so simple but packs a punch on flavour and most importantly it is very easy to make.

Houmous as a sandwich spread is one that I think most people forget about. It’s so nutritious and yet so simple to make of that is what you would like to do.

The mozzarella and tomato is such a lovely combination and perfect for younger weaning babies from 6 months.

This could also work as a delicious snack box if you were going out for the day, and used to snack on if desired.

Grated carrot I find is eaten than if I serve my son carrot batons, it may be because the carrot is raw and not cooked, but a definite winner, which is great.

The garnishes you may think are over the top, but I genuinely believe that if the food looks amazing then I get a better reaction from my son and he tends to eat more. He definitely eats with his eyes. However, if you didn’t want to use them you don’t have to they are completely optional.

I hope you give this one a go, it’s so simple and fun to make and full of nutritional value.

    Ingredient information

Wholemeal bread - I have used wholemeal bread but you can use your sliced bread of choice.

Raspberries - Full of vitamin C, a good extra to this bento box.

Houmous - I have a houmous recipe you can try or you can of course buy houmous from the supermarket.

Carrot - Great for vitamin D, and perfect for weaning babies as grated carrot is safe to do so.

Cherry tomato - Quartered cherry tomatoes are ok from 6 months of age.

Mozzarella - A creamy cheese is always popular with my son. Great for weaning.
