Pizza Pockets
If your little ones love pizza then you will have to try this pitta pocket pizza recipe!
The great news is, hopefully I have chosen ingredients that you all have in the cupboard and fridge as staples in your home.
The great taste of pizza is just so delicious, and the great news is there are hardly any ingredients that you need to get that great pizza taste.
I decided to use pitta bread as the base, as this is very similar to pizza dough (ish) and you can easily get away with saying it’s a pizza!
You can of course experiment with adding in different toppings of your choice and cheeses of your choice, but I have decided to keep it simple, so that you have a great recipe that you can add to!
I have added to the bento box, cucumber strips and quartered tomatoes! I have kept things savoury so you could add anything sweet as an extra treat if you wish!
My son loves this easy recipe, you will have to give it a go!
Ingredient information
Pitta bread - I have used a Warburton’s pitta as I find these are the best for this recipe, you could of course use a pitta of your choice.
Tomato purée - I always have this kept in the fridge, so handy for a quick pizza style meal.
Mixed herbs - Another staple in my cupboard! So versatile In many recipes!!
Mature cheddar cheese - I have used cheddar but you could use a mix of both cheddar and mozzarella cheese or just mozzarella works well too!
Cucumber - A great lunch addition or as a snack, cucumber is another staple in my fridge.
Cherry tomato - I always have some cherry tomatoes in my fridge as they are great eaten on their own or they can be used to whip up a quick tomato based sauce.
Serving suggestion
If you did want to serve the pita pizzas with something else, why not try serving with a delicious fruit salad or a single piece of fruit such as a banana or apple.
Even some plain Greek yogurt is always a winner.
You could make a tomato sauce for dipping if you like too!
Why not try using naan bread instead of a whole wheat pitas to change things up a bit.

Storage instructions
If you wanted to make this pita bread pizza ahead of time, once you have made the pitta pizzas, leave to cool fully before popping in the fridge in an airtight container.
Once in the fridge the pita pocket pizza can be left for up to 3 days in the fridge
I love reusable kitchen stuff! These silicone muffin cases are dishwasher and freezer safe and can be used in the oven up to 230 degrees C! Ideal for individual baby portions.

Quick Pitta Pocket Pizza Recipe Idea For Toddlers
A simple recipe if your little ones like pizza! Use pitta bread instead of pizza dough, cheese of your choice and favourite finger food for the bento box.
Ingredients
Instructions
- Start by opening the pitta bread, and spreading the tomato purée on both the insides of the pitta.
- Sprinkle in the mixed herbs and then fill with cheese, press down with your hands to flatten the pitta.
- Pop the pitta bread into the toaster for a few minutes until the cheese has just started to melt.
- Cut the pitta bread into fingers, and place into the bento box.
- Assemble the cucumber and tomato into the bento box.
Notes
I have used a Warburtons wholemeal pitta, as I have found these pitta breads are easier to open and cut into fingers.
Also if you wanted to make the pitta pocket vegan just pop in your favourite vegan cheese!
