    Ingredient information

Sliced bread - When it comes to introducing sliced bread into your baby's diet, there are a few factors to consider. When it comes to bread specifically, it's important to ensure that it is soft and easily digestible.

Opt for whole wheat or multigrain bread options that are low in salt and do not contain added sugars. Make sure to remove any crusts or hard edges that could pose a choking hazard.

Introduce small, bite-sized pieces of sliced bread, and observe your baby's reaction and ability to chew and swallow.

Apple puree (apple sauce) - When it comes to introducing solid foods to your baby, apple puree pouches can be a convenient option for baby-led weaning.

These pouches are typically made of pureed apples without any additives or preservatives, making them a healthy choice for your little one.

They provide a soft and smooth texture that is easy for babies to handle and swallow, encouraging self-feeding and developing their fine motor skills.

Cinnamon - Cinnamon and apple is a delightful combination that evokes warmth and comfort with every bite.

The fragrant and earthy notes of cinnamon beautifully complement the sweet and tangy flavours of apple, creating a harmonious partnership that tantalises the taste buds.

Unsalted butter - When it comes to vegan alternatives for unsalted butter, there are a few options that can easily replace traditional dairy-based butter.

One popular choice is vegan margarine, which is made from vegetable oils instead of animal fats. It has a similar texture and taste to butter, making it a versatile substitute for baking or spreading on toast.

Another option is coconut oil, which not only adds a rich, creamy flavour, but also works well in both sweet and savoury recipes.

Strawberry - You may want to remove the strawberry star from 6 months, and re introduce from 8-9 months. You could serve with a whole strawberry instead.

Greek yogurt - This can be served from 6 months old and is a perfect combination with the toast, feel free to add more to the plate.

    Storage instructions

The apple cinnamon butter toast can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days, stored in an airtight container.

If you wanted to freeze the apple cinnamon apple toast you will need to make sure that the toast has cooled down at room temperature before transferring to either a freezer bag or airtight container.

It is best to freeze the toast without the yogurt and the strawberry and add that to the defrosted toast. Make sure that the bag/airtight container is labelled with the item and the date. I use masking tape to label the airtight container.

To defrost the toast, leave in the fridge overnight and make sure that they are fully defrosted.

You will not be able to reheat the toast as the quality is not the same, but you will be able to eat chilled.

Once the toast has been defrosted you will not be able to refreeze.

Equipment used to help with this recipe

Frying pan - I love the non-stick surface of this particular frying pan and it’s suitable for all types of hob.

Airtight container - I much prefer the click-shut lids on these containers compared to others. They are also dishwasher and freezer safe and BPA free, so very suitable for food use.
